Why are people soo greedy when it comes to selling pets?

Yeah I know that quality in a dog is important and bloodline and all that but come on, thousands of dollars???? I see people selling puppys for hundreds and thousands - its kinda sad. It's crap that you have to save up your money for months just to get the dog you want when you have a great loving home to provide for it. I don't even spend $600 for my sons school clothes and supplies each school year!
