Is it true that in some areas (Example: only white people), if an asian guy dates a white girl,he'll get shot?

The reason I'm saying this is because I'm Korean, born and raised in Chicago, and I'm in a relationship with a white girl who lives in New York. We've been dating for 7 months and I want to go to visit her. She lives in Syracuse and from what I hear it's a very boring area and not a lot of diversity going on there. My parents, who are obviously the strict koreans, tell me that if I go there and start hanging out with her, I'll likely end up getting shot because "people" there can't imagine an asian guy dating a white girl. She loves me with all her heart and I do as well but I just don't want to be troubled by this kind of scenario and hopefully somebody could give me some advice or any other positive words to help me out.
